TRANSEUNTIS MUNDI
New York, 2019/2020. By Cândida Borges and Gabriel Mario Vélez.
Immersive installation with VR works, sound and image installations.
Transeuntis Mundi was launched in Sept/2019 and has been performed at on-site exhibitions in Medellin (Colombia), London (UK), Miami and New York (US) for over 3,000 visitors. The debut was at the Medellin Book and Culture Festival 2019 (Colombia) and later was invited to different events and galleries. In 2019, it was also selected for two major conferences in the field: the Digital Research of Humanities and Arts 2019 (London, UK) and the Rochester Institute of Technology (New York, US). In Dec 2019, TM was invited to present at the prestigious Miami Art Basel and was the only VR work of that year. In March 2020, TM exhibitions took place at the Columbia University (New York, US) and at the Museum of Moving Image (New York, US). Awarded by the Rio de Janeiro’s State Department of Culture (Brazil), the TM project created a WebVR work to transform this immersive experience into a virtual exhibition, specially developed for the pandemic times. The first online exhibition season occurred in September 2020 and was available to the general public. In November 2020, the project was selected again to participate at the 5th Frameless Symposium, developed by the Rochester Institute of Technology (New York, USA). In late November, the project was part of the Latinamerican RealMix Festival (Colombia). Now, over 1,000 visitors have experienced the TM online exhibitions since Sept/2020.
